Ian Adair?s AWARD WINNING Cable Tie Effect!

Over the years many different methods of securing the thumbs whilst performing the classic Thumb Tie effect have been used. Most used cord or string; some used tapes and other used pipe cleaners. Ian?s version uses Cable Ties.

The Effect

The performer displays some cable ties. He demonstrates the fact by taking one and showing how it works. The tail end of the tie is slowly pulled through the tie. The audience (and in particular, an assisting spectator) sees that, as it is pulled, it locks into position. The looped tie is pushed over the spectators thumbs when both are positioned side by side. As the tie is pulled tight, the thumbs are easily secured. There is no way the spectator can free himself from the tie, unless, of course, a pair of scissors is used to cut it off. This, in fact, is done, just to prove how impossible it is to unlock the tie.

The performer?s thumbs are now secured in the same way with the spectator pulling the tie tight.

Several hoops are handed to the spectator who is requested throw them one at a time to the performer?s secured thumbs. And one by one the hoops pass through these onto the arms. Between each throw the performer nears the spectator to prove that the thumbs are still secure.

All usual thumb tie effects can be executed when using this method.

Supplied with cable ties.

Ian has been using this method for over 12 years, this method has also featured in The Linking Ring and has won awards.
